Great to hear from you. "What a long strange trip it's been." It does seem like only yesterday I was working in the 103, but 17 years later...Tell your wife to congrats on her retirement, I think I may stick around for a while longer. I was reading your post about Paul Simon and I remember his Mom calling us in for Show and Tell so she could show us his gold record! My Mom and Pop are good - thanks for asking (not bowling anymore, though). Take Care.

I just read that bit about Paul Simon... I had a similar experience meeting him. (I didn't have his mom for a teacher my older brothers both did), but I remember had grown up across the street from his Mom, and I remember a time when he came back to the street to do a photo shoot for his Greatest Hits record, which we all found very exciting. I had gotten an autograph from him--I was about 10. So I had gone home to get a record for him to sign, and Art Garfunkle had been there--I remember when I asked him to sign the record, he put his hand up, and pulled his leg into the limo and closed the door on me. Later I told my brother who laughed quite hard--the record had been Kodachrome-- Paul Simon's first solo record! Later on when I had the chance to meet both of them, it was Art who ended up being very sweet to me, and Paul strangely distant, even when mentioning his mom, and the street we all grew up. Kind of an ironic twist after all the years had gone by...

I actually wound up in the entertainment business too. I'm a freelance front of house audio guy. I tour with different bands, mostly year round. I also do consulting work related to artist management and production. It would be interesting for me to hear about your work. We should catch up some time.
