I remember a Lori Hoberman (I didn't know there were 3 kids). And of course I know Shimon's, although my favorite was Mama Lucy's (now Angelo's). When I visit my mom, I generally go running through the neighborhood--along Main St--at points, and around Queens College (my alma mater).
While I have casually kept in contact with old classmates--often through our mother's, Facebook, and the random meeting--I knew lots of people from other classes (my brother graduated in 1978) and played ball with kids from the surrounding areas. My younger social network expanded when, like you, I went to Campbell and then to Hillcrest. Still, I never met you or heard of you (I suppose you can say the same for me).
I also went to school in NJ--Rutgers, where I got a master's degree. Where did you go and what did you study? What do you do now? (my brief bio is on the 164 website). I never thought I'd wind up in the profession that I did, nor did I ever imagine getting banished to to the rust belt city of Buffalo. Life does offer many interesting twists and turns, none of which I would have ever predicted.
While I don't mind this site, its public nature makes me search for some privavcy. Should you wish to continue this conversation in another forum, you can find me on Facebook (joined at the urging of friends, I must admit), or at stangerh@hotmail.com.
I hope laundry wasn't too much drudgery today. Alas, mine awaits me soon!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend. Nice chatting online with you.
Cheers,
Howard

I saw you at the reunion last week, but I didn't get a chance to say hello to introduce myself. You look familiar but I don't think we've met before. Since you graduated from 164, you must live in the n'hood. I grew up across the street and lived there until going off to graduate schools in the mid-1980s. I get home 3-4 times a year and have watched the entire area grow increasingly unfamiliar, especially the people. Most of my friends and some of my family members have left the area. No matter that I've lived in the Midwest and, for the last 15 years, in Buffalo, Flushing will always be home.
I trust you also enjoyed the reunion? As much as you wish to divulge, where did you grow up, go to school, live now, etc?
Regards,
Howard Stanger (class of 1975)
What are you working as? (Wouldn't surprise me if you owned a dance studio)!
I teach first grade and I love it. The kids are amazing and so smart!
I will let you know when I have time to visit. It's always good to get away for a bit!
Sorry to hear about your mom. It must have been tough when your dad sold the house. It's good that he's happy and has a new place.
I'm looking forward to the reunion and I'm hoping my sister will go as well.
Talk soon!
Yes, those are my kids. They are quite a bit of work, but they are really good! Are you planning on attending the reunion? I am going. I'll sign up soon. I hope to see you there so we can catch up on things!
I do get to Queens at times, my home is less than an hour away. Are you living there?
How is your family?
My sister, Pat lives near me, my sister, Debi, lives in North Carolina, and my brother still lives in Queens.
My parents have their apartment in Queens but they mainly live in their house in Pennsylvania. (Just 1 1/2 hours from me)
Hope all is well!
I can't even remember the last time I saw you! I hope all is well with you. It's amazing how time flies!

I am so glad to see you! How have you been? It has been such a long time. What are you doing now?
All the best,
Melissa
Yeah, sold the house about 8 years ago. I was getting very tired of the commute, so I moved to the city and lived there til I move to Brooklyn about 6 months ago. What's new with you? Lily
I've studied Muay Thai for quite a few years, and have taught that for a while as well. I have most recently been studying a Japanese sword art called Shinkendo, which I love. I'm in L.A. training with our headmaster and founder of the style, so I'm getting some pretty intensive training and info. I'm not sure when I'll be back in NY. I am definitely staying in L.A. till the end of March. Mid-March I'll get word as to when my papers for Greece will be done. That will dictate when I return to NY. Soon after that, I plan on leaving for Greece. It will be sometime this year, sooner, better than later.
Great to hear from you,
All my best,
George
