As my Mom still lives there, I go shopping in the area for food all the time.
Seems it is now acceptable to pull up to the store in VERY expensive cars, certainly well dressed and jeweled and pay for your food in FOOD STAMPS!
The first few times I saw it, I just looked on and said you can't tell a book by its cover............but as time went on you hear while standing at the register they think its funny and joke about how easy it is!
Those homes are well over a million dollars, the apartments expensive and their cars better than what I drive.
How can it be so easy for them to get food stamps?
The house next to my Moms recently bragged to me how he pays no taxes because his house is taxed on a religious based organization! He has 7 children and his wife runs a catering business out of their home!
Any ideas on how to bring this to the attention of someone who can look into these

Arlene,
Entitlement-programs are widespread and without oversight. It is too much of a political hot-button issue like immigration itself. Can understand the indignation but, sadly a reality of today. Any politician who would dare do something about this risks too many votes.
I know you are right..but in light of all the people who are deserving of these programs it is a shame to hear these people making jokes about how they get over on the system and think they are just so right.
Peter it is so not me to even comment on something like this, but when you hear the comments that go along with the use of the card you have to take notice.
You can even buy beer! They just ring up food that costs the same thing and out they go!
Thanks for letting me vent......though I would hope votes are not the only thing that is important:)
HI Arlene,
Am looking at your P.S. 164Q pictures and you were in a few of my classes. I have those same yearbook pictures. I remember you now. My best friend was Barry Wertheim and also friends with Jeff Modlin and Kenny Plotnick. And yes, the 'entitlement' of the newer immigrants and 'religious' deductions (i.e. no taxes) is outrageous. In my small town in Masschusetts there are many undeserving on SSI who do not work although perfectly able to.

So funny that many of the classes look the same! LOL
I make the same mistake:)
Thanks for allowing me to vent on this!
Enjoy your weekend*
