I always thought a great deal of you and Henry. We went with different crowds as we got older, but we were good friends way back as little ones. I recall my mom sharing photos of you and me as babies with our our mothers in the court.
Howie did his doctoral work up at Cornell, then taught at Stony Brook, Rutgers, and Rhode Island now for many years. He is pretty renown for his work on lyme tics. I'm still in touch with Don Reichman (from my grade - who also attended Stony Brook) and Mike Schwartz (from your grade). Don teaches at a community college in New Jersey (for over 30 years now). Mike lived in the Aspen area for a long time, but now is in Napa Valley - he has been a waiter at some of the finest five star restaurants in the country.
Okay, you've got to ask Henry if he ever worked for the company that manufactured Etonic or one of the other running shoe companies. I have this vivid memory of him stopping by our apartment on Vleigh Place with some pairs of running shoes for us. I know that senility is starting to set in, but this is a memory I hope I have correct!!!
I'm in Dallas quite a bit to visit with donors. Perhaps we can catch up one day.
Rick
Just looking at this web-site and I noticed your name. Weren't you and your brother Henry our neighbors on the other side of the court? My folks are long gone. My older brother Howie is an entomologist living in Rhode Island (based at U of Rhode Island) - married with two kids college age. Lanny - kid brother - lives in the Bronx, was never married. Like Howie, I've been an academic my whole career - went to U of Chicago for Ph.D. in Public Policy and Education. I've lived in New Orleans, Columbia, SC, Fort Collins, CO, and currently am a Dean at the University of Kansas. I'm married with three kids - an older boy is a lobbyist in DC, and two younger kids - nine (a son) and twelve (daughter).
Our families always had a nice connection, your mom was very supportive of everyone. Of course, I remember you getting a ruptured spleen sledding down our huge hill in the backyard -- we all were always very concerned about that. Last I recall your brother worked for one of the running shoe manufacturers.
Where in TX do you live?
