Who had Ms. Simon as their 3rd Grade Teacher?? (too bad I didn't get her son, Paul's autograph back then, what did I know??) Anyway, does anyone remember her applying face cream from a Mayonnasie Jar?? For some strange reason, I vividly recall her dapping that stuff on her face and thinking "how gross, she's putting Mayonnaise on her face (LOL)

I had Mrs Zobler for kindergarten, Mrs. Sachs for 2nd grade, and Mrs. Dipietro for 4th grade. She was sooo young compared to all the other teachers we had back then!

I had Mrs. Simon in 3rd and posted about it in the "who's your favorite teacher" forum-you'll find lots about Mrs. SImon in there.
My brother was lucky enough to have her both in 1st and 3rd grade!

I had Mrs. Simon as a reading teacher. Who knew years later I'd read she pals around with Neil Simon and the likes of other NY celebs?

I had Mrs. Simon in 1st grade. That was when Paul simon was just starting out. I remember he used to come into the classroom, sit on the large stool in the front of the room, and sing his songs. he actually sang "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" for us before it was ever released. I also remember when she used to assign homeowrk for us ....it was to stay up and watch Dick Cavet because her son was going to be on it. She was a great lady!!!!

Does anyone know what ever happened to Mrs. Alexander (Kindergarten teacher)?

Mrs. Alexander is doing fine and at times still substitutes for one of our Kindergarten teachers.

Mrs. Simon was my 3rd grade teacher, in 1970-71 . . . which means that we were in the same class!!!

Oh my God! How amazing to have found all of you guys after 35 years. I left 164 after 5th grade. Who could have believed then there would be such an invention as the Internet to reconnect after all this time?

It's ironic how I ended up finding this and all of you. I was on some music web site message board talking about Paul Simon, and I mentioned that Mrs. Simon was my 3rd grade teacher. Someone asked if I met him, and I replied (and it's true) that I was absent 1 day that whole year and that that was the day he made a surprise visit. (And it still haunts me to this day!) This brought the memories flooding back, so I googled Mrs. Simon and found her obituary from last year. (She was 97!) I spent my lunch hour today listening to old S & G tunes on my iPod; the tears started with "Bridge Over Troubled Water"; and the floodgates when I got to "My Little Town". But, then I wanted to see if there was a way to do something through the school to remember her, and I looked up the school web site. And that's when I found your posting.

I don't remember the mayonnaise jar. Most of my memories revolved around our class play, "Alice in Wonderland". I was the Mad Hatter . . . well actually my BF Jonathan Hammond initially won the role, but he came down with chicken pox. Mrs. Simon had faith in me to learn the part in 1 week.

I hope that we can use this web site to learn more about what we've all become.

I'm so saddened to hear Mrs. Simon died last year but what a long ride she had! I befriended the widow of James Wong Howe, cinematographer of "Sweet Smell of Success", "Hud" (he won an Oscar for that), "Body and Soul" (the inspiration for "Raging Bull"), "Funny Lady" and over a hundred other films in Hollywood and she died nearly two years ago at the age of 97 1/2. That generation was hearty!
