Fri. afternoons were club days,Mr Gulkin led the science club, other teachers led other clubs.

Mr Gulkin was a contributing writer for "How and Why Wonder Books" in science. I was one of his science monitors. I would go around the school and demonstrate a variety of science experiments. I would usually volunteer to make these "rounds" when he would start a math lesson. I hated math. As a result, my math skills were seriously compromised as a young adult. I wonder if he ever noticed that I left the room at the same time (almost every day)?

I had miss finklestein as well. She died in 1991 from what I have been told. We were both in the same class. Hope all is well

I finished in 1961, all my teachers were: kindergarten: Meade & Zobler, 1st: Mrs Weintraub, 2nd. Mrs Bloom, 3rd. Miss Schmidt, 4th Mrs Rosenberg, 5th, Mrs. Bromberg, 6th, Mrs. Giordano. I was in the Glee Club with Mrs Bromberg - we did South Pacific - I even remember my part, and I remember Eddie Siegel played the part of HOney Bun. I'm 61 and still talk about that play!!

Yes, I remember seeing that show at the school, I think Mike Kaplan was in it.

Hello, just joined the group... attended PS164 K-6 grade, "graduated" in 1958. I remember Mrs. Bromberg, Mrs. Rosenberg, and especially MRS. EMERICK... I hope I spelled her name correctly, as I think everyone who had her in the 3rd grade would rememeber her.

I think it was actually spelled Emeric. I also had her in 3rd grade; and we used to say Emer-ICK! She sure was strict. As I think about it now, she should have retired years before; she was a difficult, nasty old lady, and really seemed to dislike kids. Can anyone justify calling an  8 year old a "bad egg?" She did that constantly to many kids. A rarity at PS164, fortunately.

amazing how that woman has remained in the memories of so many of us all these years...I can hardly look at my finger nails without remembering her inspections... I wonder how a local school board would deal with her now...
