it was sad about Beverly. the neighborhood has changed. my parents moved out of there last year and are very happy in bay terrace. we all had good memories of KGH. judy lives up in boston, married with 2 kids. i heard that willy passed away not too long ago. he was some character.

Vivian Roswick called my Parents the other day telling them that Beverly Syckoff was very sick---she had an anyorism....and then died. She was 58 years old--has a husband, and three children. i lived in the neighborhood from 1953-1965 and do remember Sam the grocer (i believe). Was he the Key Food guy? Unfortunately we moved to Great Neck 1965...(and i DO mean unfortunately...)

Yes, I am that Arlene Gelman. It is good to hear from you. I moved out in 1974, but my parents remained in the house until my Dad died in 1995. I often wonder what the neighborhood looks like now. My older brother Bob used to work for Willy (and Dave) as a "soda jerk" at the candy store on Main Street in the 1950s. Does anyone remember Marie's card shop, Eugene the butcher, or Sam the grocer? They all date back to the 1950s, too.
