I now am a grandmother of six; I live in East Williston, N.Y. and Melbourne Fl. I look forward to speaking with you and catching up. Give my regards to your parents.
I hear that you are teaching but please feel free to fill in the details. As for me and in a nutshell: I'm living in PA, happily married and with that came a stepdaughter and a granddaughter and lots of friends. I am working as a child psychologist and running to NY every other week to take care of my parents (who still live on 76th Rd).
Enjoy your visit in Florida and say Hi from me. Remembering and really TRYING to remember so many things from 40+ years ago is fun / odd / scary / all of the above. Every so often I wonder what my parents were thinking of at the age I am now. Last week I went into Manhattan by Long Island Rail Road (to run a race in Central Park so I could qualify to run the NY Marathon next year (!?!) and pointed out Forest Hills where I have an apartment to my friend as we passed by. When I first moved there I remember only one small store (on the corner of Ascan Ave and Austin St) where I bought the Sunday Times and bagels since nothing else was open. Quite a bit different now. I read that they are planning on doing work at the playground near PS 164 on Park Drive East. I havent driven through in a while but boy the memories sure do flood by! I lost a lot of photographs (and a lot more besides that) a few years ago when I had a flood in my basement so my memories will have to do instead of relying on photographs. Now tell me if my memory is correct - did you sit close to the window towards the back of the classroom? I dont remember where I sat though! I remember 6th grade but not 5th. How old do you think Mr. Edelson (or how ever his name was spelled) was when we had him as our teacher? Our age now? I remember him as 'old'! Nice, friendly but old. I have the grey hair but I wont be accepting 'old' just yet. Maybe in another 20 years or so but not now.
sorry.
Steve
