BU basketball is a huge story

I had dinner with her and Kevin Thu. night. We were both astounded by the coincidence. You got the description right. She'd divorced from first husband and now going out with my friend, Kevin, who was here promoting his new book and moderating an ONA session.

You got it. Kristen Young. She worked for you in LA. I'm @ the online news association conference in SF.

David: Just ran into one of your former colleagues: Kristen Taylor. She's the girlfriend of one of my good friends, Kevin Maney, former tech columnist for USA Today. When she mentioned that she worked for WWD, I asked he if she knew you. She was amazed by our connection.

Thanks for posting here. I was a biz writer for a couple of years then a biz editor for 20 years. Before that, I covered the planning, prep for 1980 Olympic Winter Games in Lakes Placid. And then the Games themselves and the aftermath. I got my MBA at SUNY-B (My daughter is going to be sophomore there this coming year- she lives on campus even though we're all of a 5 minute drive from campus) after I stopped teaching journalism there on a part-time basis. I got fed up with the BS from the students. Out of a class of 25, three or four were committed, and the balance were pains in the ass. It was a journalism class, yet they whined at every writing assignment. Then, for about two years I was traveling around the country for SABEW and SNPA (Southern Newspaper Publishers Assoc.) teaching novice business reporters the ropes of business reporting. That ws a blast. In my days of a reporter and editor I covered high-tech, specifically IBM, aerospace, defense and utilty deregulation.Close to three years ago I saw the future, and switched over to the Internet side of things. Don't do much writing any longer except for a blog, but do run three newspaper Web sites: Binghamton Press, Elmira Star Gazette and Ithaca Journal. Esentially I am an Web AME, though I pretty much run the editorial content part of the operation.I miss writing and I missing get people hot under the collar. Esentially I've become a page view whore. That is I use Web analytics throughout the day to determine what's hot and what's not to generate page views, time on site, and attract as many visitor as I can.

Dave,----- I guess we both missed this reunion. We'll just have to wait for our 50 year class reunion in 2016. Ben and I went on a 25 mile bike ride last weekend as part of a fund raiser for my kids old elementary school. For next years ride, we are thinking about going 50 miles. Want to join us?
