I hadn't gone back for many years then started to about 20 years ago...it feels so right!
My sister is Ellie.

Yes, those wonderful, formative years are just below the surface, I totally understand! We lived a few houses up from you, and my sister is closer in age to you. I recall our mothers were friendly. Don't you have a sister Celia??
Regards,
Jane Siegel
My name is Ann Hirschfeld and we were in 5th grade together with Mr. Edelson. Probaly other classes also. I just got on this website and finding people that I haven;t seen in years. I would love to hear from you. Ann
re: Mr. Gulkin's nervous-breakdown: actually, it was a heart-attack; and, he had it just after our 6th grade play which he was running around with like a chicken-with-his-head-cut-off. it happened the day after and he was replaced by (not 100% sure of her name) Mrs. Teicher who disliked me and Barry Wertheim (best friend). she actually threatened not to let me continue to SP (Special Progress) even though i passed the test, because i would talk too much and joke, and probably made fun of her. also, Mrs. Goldman (our 3rd grade) threw a desk on me with all the books inside tumbling all around and on top of me. i was sorry i didn't attend graduation as we moved to Long Island a few days before. also, sorry i couldn't continue to John Bowne with my friends. i have a million memories of teachers, kids, off-the-wall experiences in Kew Garden HIlls/164. would have to say it was my "Rosebud."
regards,
peter
