Hey. Great hearing from you. Sorry to hear about your step daughter. That must have been horrible. I hope your daughter will be okay. You never said what happened. I told Donna I heard from you. She told me to tell you how sorry she was also. Glad to hear how much you like living here. Don't get me wrong;; I love the perks of the house. We put in a pool and that is our summer oasis. We are outdoor people. We enjoy having our family over, enjoying the pool and having a bbq. Simple folks really. Although I must say I would be happier living on the island (I think). Hello Mitch, Although you were one of the "big kids" and your brother was a "little kid", so we didn't interact much, we were all in Troop 199 with Warren Boo as scoutmaster. I remember a hilarious winter trip to TMR where our Dads cooked for us as we sledded all day. I lived around the block from you on 71 Avenue and all this feels like ancient history!

Don Reichman put me on to this site. I sent a message to Rick Hendra who was a good family friend for many years. Your mom and dad contacted me out of the clear blue a few years ago, so I have heard a bit about your doings. I didn't realize you were a Hokie - my wife's entire family on her dad's side went to Va Tech, mostly in engineering. I had a close friend in the Business School at South Carolina who was a grad, and I almost caused a family uprising when I was offered a job a few years back at UVA (we decided not to take it). I'm at the University of Kansas now as Dean of the College of Education - my background was in public policy (U of Chicago), but I always focused on schools and worked in Ed Colleges. Moved around a bit over the years, but have always enjoyed the ambiance in college towns. Lawrence, KS is a great place to live, a basketball haven, and after the Orange Bowl this past year (sorry, we even went down and saw the game against the Hokies - who as you probably know, used to be called the Gobblers), a pretty decent football school! My wife is a professor as well, and we have three kids - a 22 year old son who went to Boulder and lives in Denver (from a prior marriage), and a seven year old son and ten year old daughter.

I think it's great that Sylvia and Frank are still alive. They were always my parents' favorite couple, and several of our families did have some good times together (remember Wolf's in Moodus, CT??). I was just in NYC and reconnected with a bunch of old friends - several I hadn't seen in over 30 years. Amazing how time seems to fly by.

Hi Mitch - your name is familiar, though I don't remember us really knowing each other. I graduated the year before you. Your brother Ken tells me we had a good friend in common, however - Howie Ginsberg. Howie and I lived on the same block, and he was my best friend till we were maybe 8 years old, and I left the block for the schoolyard to become a jock. If I'd stayed with Howie, I might have become a scientist. He was a brilliant kid and a better friend than I was. I'm hoping you might have some news of him and the family. Last I heard, Howie was in entomology at Cornell; but that was a long time ago...

Thanks for responding, Mitchell. I've been a reading specialist in an elementary school on the South Shore of L.I. for the past 20 years. I have three married daughters, and five little grandsons!! Hard to believe myself!! My husband and I live in Huntington Station, NY(North Shore of L.I.). We still both work full-time, and continue to enjoy our work. Do you remember Stuart Suchotliff? He also would have graduated in 1962, and was a close neighbor and family friend. Lost touch decades ago: would love to hear anything about his whereabouts, if possible.
